Nutrien Warrnambool raises over $20,000 for charity

The recent cattle store sale at the South-West Victorian Livestock Exchange (SWVLX) saw $21,000 raised for a young truckdriver who recently lost both of her legs in a road accident. Warrnambool’s Michelle Pillar was involved in a truck accident in January which left her with significant injuries, including a double leg amputation.

“Michelle had carted plenty of loads of livestock for our agents and clients, and she was very professional in the way she went about her job,” said Nutrien Warrnambool Branch Manager, Tim Nowell.

Nutrien Warrnambool coordinated a charity auction with the support of a number of Nutrien clients and suppliers. Vendors from across the western region donated steers, and corporate agribusinesses such as Virbac auctioned products. The fundraiser raised a total for $21,000 for Michelle’s trust.

Nutrien Warrnambool also purchased a charity steer at the recent Western Victoria Livestock Exchange (WVLX) weaner sale, raising $3,800 for the Dolly’s Dream Foundation.

Tim Nowell said the sales were opportunities for the Nutrien business and clients to support two important charities.

“Mental health issues in our younger generation are at an all-time high. It’s critically important as a business that we support organisations such as Dolly’s Dream, and encourage people who are struggling to put their hand up and ask for help.”

“Meanwhile, Michelle faces a long road to recovery, and Nutrien is committed to doing our bit support her, as she’s supported our industry,” said Tim.
