Nutrien Ag Solutions Accelerate Program participants present to leadership team

With demand for key talent remarkably high, retention is more critical than ever. Nutrien Ag Solutions has focused on investing in employee learning and development by facilitating an experience that exposes them to leaders within the business to present their ideas.

Nutrien Ag Solutions explains the business’s understanding of how important supporting employees’ development and growth is and how they will focus on it moving forward.  

“It’s critical that businesses increase opportunities for their employees to provide development opportunities and building capability and engagement. In a competitive labour market, you must continually attract and retain your employees. It makes sense, and it’s good for the business, the people and the industry.”

“In 2020, Nutrien launched the Accelerate Program, focused on exposing participants to contemporary thinking in leading, change and strategic thinking to enhance and increase their leadership skills. It makes sense to invest in our biggest asset, our people, and empower them to take on new challenges and grow in their field.”

The program is held over 12 months and delivered in three modules partnering with the Melbourne Business School. In the program, participants are grouped into small teams and to work on a critical strategic business project to implement within Nutrien. The group then pitch their proposal to the National Leadership Team for endorsement in the final module.

This year’s participants came from various functions across Nutrien, including Branch Managers, Agronomy, IT and Human Resources.  

“This year, the teams focused on sustainability, manufacturing, and customer-centric IT solutions. It was brilliant to see a focus on areas where we are constantly looking for improvements, opportunity and innovation.”

Nutrien Ag Solutions, said the program is about developing Nutrien’s future leaders and executives.

“As well as learning and development opportunities through various courses and training, they were split into three groups to deliver a real-time strategy for Nutrien Ag Solutions. They then had to operationalise it and present their plan to the Executive Team.”

“The groups worked exceptionally well together in a very challenging environment with limited face-to-face time interaction throughout the project due to Covid. Congratulations to all the graduates, they should all be proud of the enormous amount of work and learning they have undertaken.”

With the 2021 Accelerate program coming to an end, the Nutrien Ag Solutions Team is excited to see how these future leaders impact our business and take the industry forward.
