Meet our Livestock Agent: James Wilson

If you have a keen interest in the livestock industry and enjoy working in a team environment, give it a crack! You won't regret it.

What’s your background?

I grew up on the family farm at Durham Ox, a mixed farming operation in northern Victoria, self-replacing merino sheep whilst cropping cereals to coincide with the sheep program. After school, I studied Ag Science at La Trobe in Bundoora.

Why did you choose a career in Livestock?

I had a keen interest in sheep growing up. Always helping my parents with several jobs around the farm. After deferring Ag Science at Uni I was a bit lost as to what I would do, but settling into a livestock traineeship at Nutrien in late 2018 was the best decision I've ever made.

What do you love about your job?

The diversity is something I've always enjoyed about it, no two days are the same. But client satisfaction is definitely the best part of the job, achieving a good result for our clients here in Bendigo is compelling.

What advice do you have for people wanting to apply to the Livestock Trainee program?

If you have a keen interest in the livestock industry and enjoy working in a team environment, give it a crack! You won't regret it.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy playing AFL footy in the winter & fishing/camping in the summer. I also enjoy spending time with family & my mates.
