Filly sells for $260K at Nutrien Classic

Yaven Champagne Romance has set a new sale record of $260,000 at the 2022 Nutrien Classic Campdraft and Sale in Tamworth, NSW.

A two-year-old filly has set a new record at the 2022 Nutrien Classic Campdraft and Sale in Tamworth, selling for $260,000.

The chestnut filly, Yaven Champagne Romance, owned by John and Jenn Corbett, and trained by Hugh Miles, attracted plenty of interest even before entering the ring.

John and Jenn Corbett are long-time vendors and supporters of the Nutrien Classic. John said, “we are over the moon, we really thought a lot of her, she is a beautiful mare.”

Yaven Champagne Romance has some of the best genetics in the world, with two iconic parents: Metallic Cat (top of the National Reined Cow Horse Association’s all-time leading sires earning list, with its offspring earning more than $4.2m) and One Moore Romance (sold more than $500,000 worth of progeny at the Nutrien Classic alone).

Purchased by Peter and Shari Knudsen from Chinchilla in Queensland, Peter said “it’s really exciting for our family. We have a long history with her as we missed out on her as a yearling, so we’re very pleased to be able to take her home now.”

Auctioneer Darren Smith said everyone had been looking forward to this sale, “there was a lot of hype about her in the pre-works and prior to the sale, she was beautifully presented by Hugh Miles, and calm. She didn’t have to do much, as she had such a presence and style.”

When asked how he felt about selling an Australian record-breaking horse, Darren said “well, it hasn’t really sunk in yet.”

In other news, Ben Hall, aboard Ben and Cheri Stanger’s Hunter View Conmaze has taken out the 2022 Nutrien Equine Classic Campdraft.
