Western Australia records largest ever grain crop, producing 27.35 million tonnes in 2025
According to the 2025 crop report published by the Grain Industry Association of WA, an increase in total crop area of 6.8 per cent from the previous record production in 2022 helped achieve the result, with most of the increase in areas recorded in the higher rainfall regions.
Andrew Duperouzel, Nutrien West Region Director, said the state’s farmers have achieved what many thought was unachievable.
“We’ve experienced the ultimate combination of the right rainfall at the right time, followed by the right temperatures and conditions that has resulted in some very strong yields in different parts of the state,” said Andrew Duperouzel.
Meanwhile, wheat area was down 3.3 per cent, canola was down 7.3 per cent, barley was up 26.4 per cent, lupins up 17.4 per cent and oats up 65.1 per cent (total oat area, including oats for hay).
