Nutrien Ag Solutions Alcoa International Horse Trials

Sandee Llewellyn and Michelle Cosgrove are two of the 350 riders that will be competing at the Nutrien Ag Solutions Alcoa International Horse Trials this weekend in Fairbridge, WA.

More than 350 riders and their support crews have gathered in Fairbridge, WA, for the Nutrien Ag Solutions Alcoa International Horse Trials.

The event is made up of three different tests: Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping. Throughout the event each phase is scored, and the horse and rider who have the least penalties at the end of the competition are crowned the winners.

Nutrien Ag Solutions employees Sandee Llewellyn, HR Manager West Region, and Michelle Cosgrove, Category Planner – Crop Protection and Seed WA, are both looking forward to competing this weekend.

“This is the first year Nutrien Ag Solutions is sponsoring the event. Many of our customers and colleagues are involved at some level with the sport of equestrian so it’s a great opportunity to support the equine community across WA,” says Sandee.

“It goes without saying - these types of events cannot run without sponsorship from companies like Nutrien. For me, there is nothing more satisfying than being part of a business that supports the events, sports and communities in which we live and work,” says Michelle.

Role with Nutrien Ag Solutions: Based in Fremantle in WA, I’m the HR Manager for the West Region and I’ve been with the business for nine years.

What do you love about your job? Everything! I love the people – I really enjoy being part of the West Team, making a difference and working through the challenges we face together.

When did you start riding? Officially I started eight years ago. I rode as a child but never owned my own horse and just used to hack around in the bush. Now I have two beautiful horses – Beaurivah (Beau) is my eventing horse and Talon is my young horse (3.5) who has just started under saddle.

Words of wisdom: Live every day to your ability, but don’t be afraid to challenge yourself!

What are you most looking forward to at the 2021 Nutrien Ag Solutions Alcoa International Horse Trials? Completing! It will be our first round at 80cm, my horse is young (7) and I am old so I will be really thankful to get around the course safely.

Role with Nutrien Ag Solutions: Based in Fremantle, I am the Category Planner for Crop Protection and Seed in WA. I have been with the business for seven years.

What do you love about your job? I’ve always said I really like the fact I have a ‘country’ job in the city. Having grown up on our family farm in the Wheatbelt, I knew a career in agriculture was what I wanted, so here I am. The people I work with are what keeps me coming back each day.

When did you start riding? I was too young to remember when, but I am told it was around the age of three. I am currently competing on a young horse called Gus, he is five years old.

Words of wisdom: Make the most of every opportunity, there will always be people who wish they were in your shoes.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2021 Nutrien Ag Solutions Alcoa International Horse Trials? I think everyone here in WA feel very privileged to be out competing, something our friends on the east coast are not able to do at the moment. Cross Country is always my favourite, can’t wait!

The Nutrien Ag Solutions team will have a stand at the event and is looking forward to cheering on all the riders. We would like to wish all the riders, support crews and organisers all the best for a very successful event.
