Meet our Grad: Lachlan Markey, Agribusiness Graduate, Sydney NSW
What's your background?
I grew up in Coonamble, NSW on a mixed farm of cereal and pulse cropping, along with a prime lamb and wool enterprise, this is where my passion for agriculture was formed. After high school I spent a year in Canada working on a variety of farms, mainly cattle and cropping farms, where my interest in agriculture was accelerated. I attended university at the University of New England in Armidale where I studied a Bachelor of Agribusiness.
Why do you love your job?
I love this role because I am learning the details of an agricultural supply chain and the importance of working within a team.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time, I play rugby union for a club in Sydney and enjoy hanging out with friends and playing golf.
Why is agribusiness a great career choice?
Others should consider a career in agriculture because the sector is fundamental in ensuring sustainable food security for the world and by working in agriculture you are contributing to the wellbeing of others.
