International Rural Women’s Day - celebrating gender diversity in agriculture

Today we recognise the critical role and contribution of rural women around the globe for International Rural Women’s Day.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Managing Director Rob Clayton says women play an important role in the rural communities we serve here in Australia.

“The Australian agricultural industry is heavily dependent on women’s on and off-farm contributions,” Rob says.

“It’s important we continue to raise the profile of women in agriculture and encourage more young women to see rural industries like agriculture as a viable career path.”

“As a company, we recognise the importance of embracing diversity of all types and are committed to creating an inclusive workforce where our unique differences are respected and valued. Our aim is to ensure our workforce attracts the best talent and brightest ideas, from all walks of life,” Rob says.

Nutrien Ag Solutions National Seed Category Manager Rebecca Staines says she is proud to be involved in the agriculture industry.

“I’m part of a great industry. I’m part of an industry that is one of the most innovative and dynamic in Australia. Together we are securing the world’s food supply and that’s a great thing to be involved in,” Rebecca says.

With the support of Nutrien Ag Solutions, Rebecca recently completed the National Farmers’ Federation’s Diversity in Agriculture Leadership Program.

“The program was a great opportunity to meet like-minded people that are also passionate about agriculture. The discussions and training also allowed me to further develop my skills and career goals,” Rebecca says.

Nutrien Ag Solutions has also launched its own Women in Ag leadership program, which will see 11 employees graduate next year.
