Giving Australian farmers the skills for a second chance
This Farm Safety Week, Nutrien Ag Solutions is spotlighting its partnership with CareFlight and a long-term investment in regional safety. Since 2022, Nutrien has been delivering Emergency Trauma Training workshops across rural, regional, and remote communities—a three-year, 180-workshop initiative designed to strengthen emergency response skills where help is often hours away.
Led by experienced paramedics and emergency room nurses, the sessions go beyond first aid. They focus on life-saving trauma care, from managing severe bleeding and crush injuries to stabilising patients while waiting for emergency services. The outcome of the workshops is to equip participants with the skills and confidence to act decisively when every second counts.
Nutrien Ag Solutions Scone Branch Manager, Mick Seale, shared how powerful the outcome was for participants. He said, "The workshop exceeded our expectations. Clients from both local and remote areas saw real value in the training. It wasn’t just about first aid, it was about being ready for real emergencies on the farm, especially when you or your team might be physically or mentally stretched. It left a lasting impression.”
This initiative reflects Nutrien’s ongoing commitment to farm safety, aligning with the message of Farm Safety Week 2025 – Second chances, who knows how many you’ll get? It serves as a powerful reminder that safety is a shared responsibility for our clients, colleagues, families and communities.
Richard Dovison, Head of Safety and Risk at Nutrien Ag Solutions, added, "Farm safety is about more than just training; it’s about building a mindset of prevention, where every person actively identifies risks and takes steps to reduce them before incidents occur. Creating a culture of safety means committing to the behaviours and decisions that help ensure everyone returns home safe, every day."
On Australian farms, second chances aren’t guaranteed. Safety starts with the lessons learned and the actions taken to make those lessons count.
